What is Signage?
For purposes such as guiding, giving information, promotional activities, usually outdoors (building, road, etc.) and indoors,
Platforms that are installed by mounting certain molds are called signboards.
In today's business world sign being preferred by the most commercial companies and being in the top rows in the competition is one of the
seen as a tool.
As can be understood from the definition, signage attracts people's attention, whether for commercial or public service purposes.
It was established to attract and impose certain information on them. Signage is especially rich in outdoor use.
It has a wide range because it has areas and everyone can see it.
A sign can be applied in desired dimensions, colors and forms according to the purpose and space to be used.
The signage industry, which previously started with a single pattern, handwritten, has become a vibrant economic field thanks to advancing technology and creative advertising ideas. This situation both provides an opportunity for signage companies to earn, on the other hand, companies can have the chance to increase their customers and earnings with signboards prepared by utilizing technology.
Today, no company building can be seen without a sign; They can advertise more freely outside the areas they are in, with illuminated signage, totem, billboard and led signage alternatives used in various areas.
In this respect, signage has an important place for the advertising industry today.
We have written many articles about the types and production of signboards, but we wanted to write an article about the aesthetics and appeal of the signs that adorn the streets.
While signage is being made, the company/person that has the signboard made is only concerned with whether the sign fits and is compatible with the workplace or place it has made. However, in our opinion, this alone is not enough. In this way, we can say that there is a visual pollution on our streets. A lot of colorful incompatible signs side by side on a street!
Especially on the streets and streets that are frequently visited, workplace signboards should be made in harmony with the architecture, so that the signs would integrate with the architecture and a pleasant appearance could be obtained. We have seen an example of this in Taksim Square in the past years. With the decision it took, the municipality made it mandatory for all signboards in Taksim to be made with brass letters on wood, and the signboards were changed in workplaces around Taksim Square and Istiklal Street. The result was good for us.
Our advice to business owners, even if it is not mandatory, is to have signs and signs made, not only for the workplace but also for the general view of the surrounding area. So our streets will look more beautiful.
